 Progess of the giant fire pit made from a salvaged oil tank.  2.5m x 1m makes a huge area to work with. 8mm thick steel and rusty as, this was a mission! Design is inspired from the cycle of life, represented here by using 'the tree of life' as a backdrop shape for the firepit, whilst using as much of the scrap pieces that have been cut out, for smaller animals and plants and shapes, to be cut, forged and welded back on.  The final design will be a 'full circle' for the old rusty oil tank as it sees a new life as a firepit providing warmth and entertainment for many years before eventually rusting back into the earth. About 2 weeks of welding, cutting and forging till its ready to go! Still to add... frogs, fish, mushrooms, more birds, more branches and leaves of the tree, worms, scared geometric welding patterns and more!!                   We had some wild supercell storms come through which left the marquee in tatters.. no...
